Bassano del Grappa

Nestled in the valleys at the feet of Monte Grappa, Bassano del Grappa is a beautiful medieval city, crossed by the River Brenta with its crystal clear water. Bassano del Grappa is famous for its wooden bridge, dedicated to the Alpini brigade, for its role during WW1 as city at the front between Italy and Austria, as well as its grappa brandy.

The wooden Bridge was built around 1569, on a drawing by Palladio, it was destroyed and rebuilt many times. Here you can enjoy the local tradition of sipping a secret aperitif recipe at one of the historic taverns at the bridge entrance, and at the same time a stunning view to the medieval palaces and the remaining walls of the castle.

Bassano cuisine is not only worth it for the Grappa, but also for numerous recipes with white Asparagus and Asiago cheese PDO (Protected Designation of Origin).
